ABOUT THE MISSION
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is launching a passive chlorination pilot project in Burkina Faso, in partnership with GiveWell. This project aims to test and evaluate chlorination systems to improve access to safe water in areas with high infant mortality rates. It includes a capacity-building component, rigorous monitoring and evaluation, and capitalization of results with a view to scaling up.
OBJECTIVE OF THE CONSULTATION – DESCRIPTION OF THE MARKET
The consultant’s mission is to provide coordination, technical and methodological support, and assistance to the team in charge of implementing the project. He or she must guarantee the quality and relevance of the project, while ensuring that the results are capitalized on.
Key Activities
The consultant will be responsible for:
- Monitoring and framing the strategic direction of the project, in collaboration with GiveWell and the implementation team.
- Advising the project team and Country Management on necessary strategic adjustments.
- Validating the relevance of diagnostics and technical approaches.
- Ensure compliance with SI and GiveWell technical requirements.
- Facilitate coordination between headquarters, the country office, and partners (Aquaya, Impact Water Work, Mangrove Water).
- Oversee the application of the monitoring and evaluation protocol with external partners.
- Provide technical support to the project team for the planning and implementation of activities.
- Centralize and disseminate project-related procedures, guides, and tools.
- Capitalize on innovative methodologies and results.
- Validate and consolidate technical reports.
- Organize training sessions as necessary.
- Ensure coordination/representation with GiveWell.
Expected Deliverables
The following deliverables are expected. The consultant may propose additional deliverables or substitutes for those proposed below.

Practical arrangements
- Travel: Field missions possible in Burkina Faso (subject to administrative and security conditions).
- Duration: The project will last 18 months (start date scheduled for 1 February 2026). The consultant is expected to be available for an average of 5 to 10 days per month. Availability may vary depending on the phase of the project.
- Supervision: Under the responsibility of the WASH Unit Manager.

‘PROFILE’ REQUIREMENTS
- Education: Higher education degree (5 years of higher education) in the field of water and sanitation or public health.
- Experience:

- Minimum 5 years in water, sanitation and hygiene project management in a humanitarian or development context, ideally with a strong technical component (related to drinking water supply – monitoring and analysis, water treatment, distribution, etc.).
- Proven experience in multi-stakeholder coordination (NGOs, donors, local authorities).
- Knowledge of issues relating to the analysis and monitoring of water quality and chlorination.
- Languages: Fluent French and English (spoken and written).
- In its relations with external consultants, SI gives preference to those who use an umbrella company service.
