In 2021, Save the Children International-ESARO Regional Programming Unit through the Child Rights Governance thematic pillar (RPU-CRG) commissioned and undertook a study on the Impact of Climate Change on Children and Youth Rights in the East, Southern and Horn of Africa. The study specifically targeted Uganda, Ethiopia, Mozambique, South Africa, South Sudan and Somalia while utilizing both secondary and primary data, relying on desktop research, complemented by empirical data generated through key informant interviews and focus group discussions while closely working with our partners in the East, Southern and Horn of Africa.
In line with this, RPU-CRG pillar seeks to develop policy briefs, that are specific to countries and RECs, based on these terms of reference and on the findings including recommendations generated from the study report. The policy briefs will serve as advocacy tools for civil society organizations including child and youth-led agencies/ initiatives targeting policy makers at the national, regional and continental level such as governments, regional economic communities, child and youth rights mechanisms.
